Lesson of the week

Never ever EVER flip the camera on myself again. Yes, I'm referring to the selfie. More on that in a minute. First, I would like to share that I'm down a pound this week! One pound, 2 pounds, 3 pounds....whatever as long as the numbers are going down or at the very least not going up. It felt so good this morning to throw on a brand new shirt I've not yet been able to fit into and have Gary comment on it! It's a very motivating feeling to keep up the hard work.

I've been spending more time at the gym and not only is it helping me physically but it is mentally as well. It feels so refreshing and rejuvenating after an intense workout! I love it! My life gets kinda crazy through the week especially but on the weekends I have no time restraints. This past Sunday, I spent over an hour and a half on my workout without even realizing it until I caught a glance at my phone. It felt so wonderful.

As for during the week, between doing some cleaning at my second job a couple nights, church on Wednesdays and trying to rush home and cook for the family, I don't have much time left for myself to squeeze in a workout. The cooking is a job in itself since I'm in the process of switching our diet to all natural foods (which by the way I made an amazing whole wheat spaghetti and meatballs dish the other night, compliments of 100 Days of Real Food ).

Because of my hectic schedule on weekdays, I've started fitting a 45-60 minute workout in during my lunch breaks. The only drawback to this is my very disheveled appearance the rest of the afternoon.. I'm sure my coworkers would agree, right guys?!

Now let me just say that I'm here to share the good, bad and ugly with you on this journey and as a testament to that, I snapped my first ever (and definitely my last) selfie after one such workout. I was a HOT MESS after one of these lunch sessions at the gym. What was intended to be a pic to document my hard earned post workout appearance right before heading back to the office turned into quite possibly the most awkward selfie ever. Check it out!

Clearly the whole concept of selfies does not appeal to me. Could I possibly look like I'm in any worse pain?!?! Seriously, have a laugh. It's on me. I was recently at a UNC Tarheel basketball game and a mother and daughter literally spent half the game trying to get the perfect shot. They were sitting directly in front of us and, unbeknownst to me at the time, my facial expression of utter "get over yourselves!" was the perfect photobomb. It was pretty entertaining.

So there you go...there's my week in a nutshell. Exciting stuff huh? Next week I'll be able to tell you all about Disney's Frozen since little miss Gracie has planned a slumber party/movie night in it's honor. Until then, have a wonderful night. I'm going to end this crazy busy day relaxing on the front porch and enjoying my Chik Fil A fruit cup. Those things are awesome by the way if you've never tried their fresh fruit!
